FUN STUFF
We all need some of that

Horse Rescue is a serious matter. However, we all need to take a break, and have some fun. This page, and all linked pages are simply that...... FUN !!!!

After all, that is why most of us have horses, right? In fact, if people spent more time having fun with their horses, instead of expecting them to be perfect, or to win ribbons, I think there would be much less abuse. I personally like to watch them, and they never cease to amaze me. Some of them are real clowns too, I know, because we have a few of them around our barn. For example, I never understand why they always sniff each others butts. I can understand why a newly introduced horse might do that, but, why do horses who are together every single day, have to sniff EVERY DAY. It's not like they suddenly change sex ..... In fact, they don't even change their coats. (probably because the dont have zippers on them) .......

Of course, when you own horses, there can be some BAD DAYS too. Like the day I FELL OFF MY HORSE. Click to see what happened!

Besides being with the horses, going to fairs, rendezvous, and all sorts of other adventures, I also like to observe the silly things in life, and put them into words. Since horses do so many silly things, they ought to have their own news. So, what if horses had their own NEWS.... Just like on TV, or in the newspapers..... Well, click below to find out.... WHAT IF HORSES HAD THEIR OWN NEWS?

Now, for those of you who think Wisconsin (known as the DAIRY STATE), . Only has COWS, you are wrong. You already know that several horses live here, and there are at least a few more :). Yes, there are lots of cows, but there are also horses, and no, they don't milk horses in Wisconsin, at least not yet :) Now, I suppose I should take a moment and mention that Wisconsin has it's own breed of horse. If you have never seen one, click here to see pictures of WISCONSIN HORSES.

Besides being with horses, I like to attend Events

One of my other favorite things to do, is to participate in "Rendezvous". If you are not familiar with a rendezvou, they are historical re-enactments of the 1800's, particularly the period around 1840. Many people get together, dressed in time period clothing, camp in Tipis (teepees), and other tentage of that era. We spend a weekend or longer having lots of fun, and entertaining the public that attend our camps. Wisconsin has a rendezvou nearly every weekend during the warm months of the year, and even a few in the cold winter. Of course, my favorite thing to do at a rendezvous, is to ride one of my horses, while dressed in my buckskins and beadwork. To see a list of Wisconsin Rendezvous, and to see pictures of some of my horses in camp, go to the WISCONSIN RENDEZVOUS LIST.

One of my other favorite things to do in Wisconsin, Animated Carousel Horseis to go every August to the WISCONSIN STATE FAIR Of course, because there are horses there, right!!!!! Go visit their web site..... They also have horse shows nearly every weekend in the summer too. Even though I do not show any horses, I like to go to the shows, just to see all of my favorite breeds. Then, later in August, (Labor Day Weekend), I like to attend the WALWORTH COUNTY FAIR, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. The fair has so many horse activities going on, that I often do not know where to begin. It is a great fair, and a great time.

My other favorite event in Wisconsin, is THE GREAT CIRCUS PARADE. This takes place every July in Milwaukee. Besides enjoying the parade, I like to attend the Showgrounds, prior to the parade, and for the past few years, I have been a volunteer there. My job is to watch the horses, to be sure none of them are in trouble. This is not an official volunteer position, but they always appreciate the help, since, in the 1997 parade, there were over 700 horses. That is a lot of horses to keep safe, and a lot of hay to feed!!! Be sure to visit their site. It is one of the nicest web sites around. Oh, and yes, the count or over 700 horses does not include the approximately 60 carousel horses. Now, don't get me wrong, I tried to feed them, but they refused to eat. So, I did'nt include them, in the count, because but they were so darn easy to care for :)

Well, this is about all for now. This site continues to expand, and seems to always be under construction, just like the Wisconsin Highways, (which they claim will be completed by winter). Well, I am no psychic, but I predict they will NEVER finish, just like this web page, so come back often.... Speaking of winter, I love Summer..... (Hey, I had to have something to complain about).... I hate Winter... I am a SUMMER person!!!!
