WINTER 2003

Fundraiser started November 1, 2003

REQUIRED GOAL - $4000 by the end of 2003.

(Yes, I will modify the thermometer when needed)
Hello

Central States Horse Rescue & Sanctuary is once again facing a crisis. This is not the first time we have had to cope with problems, from financial troubles to storm damages. Yet, we have managed to stay in business for over eight years now, which is longer than many rescue centers have been around. We have remained small, but continued to endure, and assist horses and ponies, on little funds.

Well, here we are once again, facing a crisis.  This time we have had a severe summer drought in our area, and hay is in short supply and expensive.  It appears that our feed costs will be double what we paid last year (which was around $2000).  This does not take into account the other needs such as vet care and costly electric bills to run water trough heaters.  From the looks of things, we will require a minimum of $5000 to get through this winter, just for basic care.  (Not including emergencies or further rescues).  While I personally fund some of the expenses, I can not even come close to this amount.  In order to get through winter, we need to raise a minimum of $4000.  We also need to stock up on hay NOW, before we can not get any, and before prices rise even more.  The goal is to raise $3000 BY THE END OF NOVEMBER (to get a lot of hay), and get another $1000 (or more) during the month of December 2003.

It's a lot of work feeding all these horses is cold weather,  but that is never an issue with me. The cost to buy this feed is the issue.  Add to this my extremely high electric bills during the winter, to heat the water troughs, and provide other needs to keep the water flowing and farm functioning. Instead of paying $60 per month for electricity, we often face electric bills exceeding $200 during the cold weather months.

Without this money, we may be forced to shut down, leaving 28 needy equines, and other small animals homeless, and future horses that need our help, without the help we could offer them.  Of course I have no intention of letting this happen, but no one person can do this alone.

WE NEED YOUR HELP
Of course, we will gladly accept loads of hay instead of money!
